Each session at Funnel Hacking Live was filled with gold nuggets, and we'll be sharing lots of them in the upcoming newsletters.
For the first of these, we thought we'd start on a topic that was close to our hearts…
Newsletters.
They're making a big comeback, and if you're interested in building one for your business, then the gold that
Perry Belcher shared at FHL is for you.
Many business owners and entrepreneurs are using newsletters to rapidly increase their lists and make money while doing it.
After his talk, we were lucky enough to sit down with Perry for 10 minutes and get a few extra insights on why you should start one:
They improve the health of your email list - Google and other email providers track email engagement in the same way Google tracks SEO. They notice when a lot of people open, read, and interact with your email. When they notice people are enjoying the content you send, they make sure more of their users receive it.
They can be easy to create - You don't have to spend hours creating a newsletter like this one. One of the most popular types of newsletter are aggregator newsletters. An aggregator newsletter is a compilation of useful/valuable content from various sources in a simple format for your readers. You can literally keep a list of interesting news and tips you come across during the week and send them to your audience.
They can be very profitable - Perry mentioned a tactic he uses that drives sales better than anything else. Many of the newsletters he sends talk about products and services that are of interest to his readers. When they open one of these newsletters, the reader is immediately sent an email selling them a product mentioned in the newsletter. Perry said that the conversion rates from the follow-up emails are significantly higher than a typical email selling the product.
(They can also be sold for huge sums of money. For example, Sam Parr sold his newsletter The Hustle to Hubspot for $17.2 Million).
If that all sounds good to you, then starting one is actually very simple:
Step 1: Content Curation and Creation
Crafting the right content is the heart of any successful newsletter. You need to identify what information will be available to your audience. If you're going for an aggregated list, scout for top-performing articles, industry updates, or undiscovered gold that your subscribers will appreciate.
Bonus Tip
When writing this newsletter, we try to give you 'golden nuggets'. We don't stuff the email with 20 tips, and we don't write long articles that require time and attention to digest.
If you uncover 1 or 2 nuggets of useful info and it only takes you a minute or so to scan through, you're going to have a hit of dopamine, and you'll be far more likely to open the next newsletter.
Step 2: Distribution
Once you've built your newsletter, the next step is its distribution. Where are you going to send your newsletter from? This is simple too.
You can use any email autoresponder, there are tools specifically for newsletters, such as Substack, Beehiiv, or Ghost, or you can send them from ClickFunnels itself.
Step 3: Growing Your Subscriber List
Once you have the newsletter planned out and you know where you're sending it from, it's time to start building (or growing) your subscriber list.
The options here are basically the same as getting someone to your funnel. For example:
Posting Content: You can post valuable content on your social media or blog and direct people to your newsletter.
Paid Advertising: You can run ads directly to your newsletter sign-up page (or run a lead form ad).
Running Special Promotions: You can run promotions offering prizes to those who bring the most new subscribers to your list. You can also partner up with newsletter writers in a complimentary space to yours to recommend each other's newsletters.
Get yours up and running and keep us up to date with its progress in the Facebook group.
