(#16) ChatGPT news, funnel builder tips, and much more…

Newsletter #16: ChatGPT news, funnel builder tips, and much more…
By The ClickFunnels Team October 9, 2023
Hey,

I hope you've had a great weekend.

In Thursday's newsletter, we asked everyone to share their 3 top takeaways/insights from FHL, and y'all didn't disappoint!

This post has been flooded with amazing insights.

We also said that we would choose one person at random to win some swag and a feature in this very newsletter next Thursday.

Well, the draw has been done, and the winner is…

Melodee Fiske!

Congratulations Melodee! We will be reaching out to you today.

This also reminded us that we have yet to pick the winner of the FHL ticket competition so that person will be announced on Thursday.

But, before all that, let's dive into this week's newsletter…
WHAT YOU'RE ABOUT TO DISCOVER...
  • Insights from the community at FHL
  • ChatGPT can now search the internet
  • New features being added to ClickFunnels 2.0
  • A secret QR code with some free gifts
  • A certified funnel builder's 4 tips to building a great funnel
CHATGPT CAN NOW BROWSE IN REAL-TIME
As great as ChatGPT can be, one of its main limitations was only having access to data up until September 2021.

That has now changed.

Paying members can now enable a beta feature that will allow ChatGPT to browse the internet to provide you with current information, complete with direct links to sources.

To enable this feature, log in, click on the three dots in the bottom left (next to your email address), select 'Settings & Beta', click 'Beta features', and then turn on 'Browse with Bing'.

Once that's on, open a new chat window, hover over 'GTP-4', and select 'Browse with Bing'.

Now, you can ask for real-time information, it will browse the web and return it. Enjoy!
If you need great content for your newsletter, your memberships, or your social media, this is going to make your life so much easier.

It might also help you find funnels to hack…

And, one more thing, with ChatGPT browsing with Bing (instead of Google), are we about to see businesses put more time into their Bing search ranking?
GREAT FHL INSIGHTS PEOPLE HAVE BEEN SHARING

As I said in the intro, we received so many great takeaways on our post, I thought I would share a few with you here…

Niamh Dee's top 3 takeaways were:

1. "Go BIG! Imagine if Russell had stayed small. We wouldn't be benefiting from his expertise." - Ben Kjar

2. "If you don't believe that the people in front of you are EXCITED to give you their money, then you have a money mindset problem" - Myron Golden

3. "10X is easier than 2X" - Ben Hardy

Dale Dubilowski's were:

1. Create a Movement — at our art instruction company, we keep discussing the idea of building a community, but what we're really discussing is a purpose-driven movement.

Movements are based on belief (I can...), identity (I am...) and community. We are already doing many of the right things (charismatic leader, inspiring our audience) but could be much more intentional and impactful.

Core concepts:
- What is the core motivator for our people? What do they really want? Significance? Freedom? Recognition? Validation? Confidence? Etc.
- For ClickFunnels, it's freedom
- Give them a goal, a system to achieve it and a new identity (I AM a funnelhacker, I AM an artist)
- Instil belief by celebrating their achievements

2. Continuity — the primary focus of FHL was building a continuity- based business and documenting each component of the Linchpin business model.

"If you don't have continuity... then you don't have a business." You are stuck in a launch hamster wheel, constantly dreaming up and launching the promotion of the day — which doesn't compound and doesn't scale. One day you will burn out, or get sick, or have a soft launch, and your business will be in jeopardy.

With this in mind, even if your revenues were exactly the same going from one-off sales to continuity — your business as a whole would be healthier, more stable, and more predictable from month to month.

And, from a buyer or investor's perspective, the business becomes infinitely more valuable because it has a process for predictably generating and retaining cash flowing customers.

3. Retention & The Success Path — Continuity compounds like interest if you reinvest in growth AND retain your members.

The #1 reason for cancellations? Overwhelm.

The value in your membership isn't the quantity of content but the quality of it — the speed at which you can move people toward a transformation.

The Map — Don't put the burden on your audience to figure it out. Do the thinking for them and give them a very clear path to success from where they are today to their end goal. ie. The Success Path
--- Ideal is 5-7 clearly defined stages with milestones in between.
--- Survey when they join and tailor their path through the content based on that.

For our biz, that would suggest that doesn't mean we dump all content into a members area but instead, outline a clear path of content that touches on key elements with options to branch out and master certain sub-topics. Like a University degree, offer certain core courses (foundations) and electives to explore before selecting your major (immersion)

Eduardo Beltran shared 10! Here are the first 3:

1. If you don't have continuity, you don't have a business

2. Listen to your CALLING, beat the RESISTANCE

3. Build a MOVEMENT, not just a business

TIPS FROM A 2CC WINNER
Nathan Shearer has been part of the ClickFunnels world for years! He's often seen helping people in the group and providing tech solutions. Recently his efforts paid off when he received his 2CC award.

When he did, he stopped by to share his 4 keys to success. Here they are:

"So before I get into my "keys to success", I wanted to start with this disclaimer... This may not light a fire under you cos it's not #GuruSpeak, but it's coming from a place of wanting to genuinely help you all succeed.

So here goes:

#1 Systems Over Goals
If I look back over the last 12+ years of "entrepreneur-ing" and pick 1 thing that still makes a difference today, that underlies everything else that I do, teach my kids, live by, share, it's building with a system first mindset.

You might have a goal, like "get a 2 comma club award", and that's great, but building a system that you can maintain that if followed will eventually land you the award, means you don't need to motivate yourself day in and day out with your goal, which may even change over time. Sometimes, you don't even notice you're doing the work. (I said *sometimes*)

The best bit, a system that works, will serve you long after the goal is achieved anyway!

For more info - Scott Adams "How to fail at almost everything and still win big"

#2 Cut The Crap
I have 2 social networks, Facebook (cos I'm a friendly type) and Twitter/X (cos I'm a nerd).

It's easy to fall into the dopamine trap and lose hours doom-scrolling. Trust me, I've been there far more than I like to admit.

Solution: dramatic unfollowing. No politics. No news. No crap.

Teach me or you're dead to me, basically.

#3 Stop Buying Courses
I've bought courses. I've gotten value from courses. But... And this was a tough lesson to learn... Are you buying a course to scratch an itch, or fill an anxiety you have about something you're lacking? If a course sets you back monetarily and a "quick fix" still takes you 6 weeks, has it really helped?

Analogies aren't great persuasion, but this one might hit you like it did me…

*How many self help books have you got stacked up on your bedside table?*

Yeah.

And lastly…

#4 Do The Work
I've mentioned one book here, and I need to mention one more. Both of these can be done in 1 sitting each, but I guarantee you'll return to them both - The War Of Art.

Everyone needs an #*se whuppin from time to time, some more than others, and no matter where you are in the ego pendulum, this book just works.

Do the work.

Bonus: #5 Podcasts
This is personal preference, but I love to work with headphones on. Feeding my head with positivity and learning.

Think: What phase are you in?

Here's my adapted 7 Day Startup process: 🏃‍♂️
1. Ideation - thinking, planning, brainstorming. Listen to founder stories. Rags to riches. Funnel Hacker radio.
2. MVP - Founders stories are great here too, but also "how to" tips and bite sized episodes. Russell is a beast at these. And Steve Larsen too.
3. Name your thing - branding, it's important but don't get stuck on logos and business cards. Pick it, know you can change it later, and move on. Gary Vee rocks at this stuff.
4. Build - if I'm doing copy and other stuff with words, I need music. Turn it up and bang it out!
5. Marketing - the balance to doing all the things, being 2 steps ahead, actually getting anything out there. It's a struggle. There's so many great podcasts, especially Russell here, check out other 2CC, 10X and CCC award winners that teach what they've learnt like Ryan Daniel Moran from Capitalism.
6. One Metric That Matters - what gets measured, gets managed. Attribution and ads podcasts are great for this stuff. Try Rick Mulready.
7. Launch! - just do it. Listen to Stephen Pressfield or Tony Robbins.

You got this.

I appreciate you all."

TIPS FROM A CERTIFIED FUNNEL BUILDER

Amongst the awards given out at FHL this year was the Certified Funnel Builder award, given to all of those who have been certified by the team in all available funnels.

Koen De Wit is one of the few who received the award, and he shared some gold I think you'll appreciate too:

"Here are 4 things I learned from working on and improving a 2CC WINNING webinar funnel:

1. They aren't born perfect
You don't start building and hit the jackpot on your first try. I have access to the clients full account and see all the variations of the past.
Funnels evolve after testing, tweaking and fine tuning. The first one almost never makes it into the illustrious club.

2. They are ugly
The first iteration was, plainly speaking, butt ugly. Don't waste time to create the most perfect visually appealing masterpiece. Just launch and test!

I've seen Google Doc funnels (yep just a link to a Google doc) and guess what… If you NAIL the message, it WILL convert, no matter the format, the color, the bells or the whistles.

But you have to launch to find out, and test.

3. They are simple
Don't overcomplicate. I've seen people come up with all sorts of machinations that don't matter in conversions. Maybe it gives a good feeling, strokes the ego and satisfies you being busy for hours thinking that hard work pays off…

Nope, nothing trumps YOU solving a REAL problem for someone with your solution. Solve their biggest pain, deliver HOPE and present an offer that is so good they feel stupid not getting it. If you have that, you can build that funnel out in 30 minutes or 6 hours. If it converts, it will convert, so why waste another 5 1/2 hours of your time building?

Spend that time on testing.

4. At some point they plateau
And this is where I come in for this client. This funnel can't break much over $1 mil USD, it hovers around there for the past 18+ months.

Things change, trends change, more competitors enter the market, so funnels need to get a kick up the [bleep] once in a whole.

Don't chase a new shiny thing, there is no need to break it all down (what most THINK they have to do). But revamp some of the copy, reposition certain sections, add more social proof, tweak the Big Idea and Unique Mechanism… and boom, it flies again and breaks through the previous impenetrable ceiling…

Don't reinvent the wheel, don't break what works, don't get sucked into shiny objects…

Launch, test, tweak, revamp… This Is The Way…."
